Hi, I'm Maya. When I was four, I wrote my first poem, and I haven't looked back since. I love playing with words, using poetry to capture moments both brilliant and unremarkable. Throughout the 17 years I've been alive, I've loved writing more than I can express in words — as ironic as that may seem.
At the age of 11, I published my first collection of poetry, Apologies to an Apple. Since then, my work has been featured in several literary journals and anthologies, and I've traveled (mostly locally) to speak about my work.
I also helped found — and am currently co-president of — TEDxRedmond, a local, independently-organized TED-style event in my hometown of Redmond, Washington. Our event is organized entirely by, and targeted towards, youth, and has drawn over 700 attendees each year.
In my free time, I enjoy biking, reading, singing, taking photos, and organizing my room. You can also find me tweeting away here.
